Salop Towing Ltd

Bev Howard

Salop Towing joined the NTTA in 2007 and became QS in 2009. I became a Council member in March 2017, Deputy Chair in September 2017 and Chairman in January 2019. All of the council members give their time voluntarily & it is a very worthwhile way of ‘giving back’ to the organisation.

Being a QS member has definitely brought us a lot of work over the years, not only through referrals from the NTTA website, but through the reassurance it gives to our customers. If our customers aren’t aware of the NTTA to begin with… once they have visited our website, workshop or spoken to us over the phone they soon know that we are a QS member. By telling our customers that we are independently assessed and work to a code of conduct it gives them reassurance that choosing us is the right option.

I firmly believe that you get out what you put in & being a NTTA member is a lot like joining a Gym! You have to put some effort in to see the rewards!

By really getting involved with the organisation you meet a vast network of people in the industry which is really helpful when you need guidance or advice.

Fun On Wheels UK Driving Academy

Terry Bassingthwaighte

Being involved in the driver training industry for over 10 years, firstly within the ATV sector and currently teaching Learner Drivers and B+E Towing as Fun On Wheels UK Driving Academy, which is a constantly changing industry.

Being part of the NTTA for me is a natural transition. The information and links within the NTTA to all parts of the towing industry is invaluable.

So much so that I want to get more involved after being a member for over 6 years and recently have been privileged to be elected as one of the council members supporting the B+E training side.

Using my experience and knowledge within my area of the trailer industry I hope to support and help increase the training members to the NTTA. Also to greatly increase the safety and awareness of the light trailer industry to the general public which I hope will lead on to more safe and responsible towing across our industry.

Barnsley Towbar Centre

Ray Pinder

Barnsley Towbar Centre have been trading for nearly 20 years and have been members of the NTTA since our very early days, the help and advice from other members when we started out was invaluable, and we soon built up a network of suppliers and technical support that helped us build the business we have now,

We are proud to be members and now where possible pass on help and advice to other members where we can, we also use the QS accreditation as a tool to convince customers why they should use our services rather than someone who may offer no warranty or customer aftercare , Added to this we also make use of some of the amazing member benefits that have saved us thousands over the years on insurance and legal advice when needed.

BTP Wholesale Trailer Parts LTD

Steve Douthwaite

BTP Wholesale Trailer Parts Ltd has been a member of the NTTA since 2012 and has seen the benefit ever since joining. We have never used any advertising as we are a business to business company and didn’t want to encourage retail sales, so attending the members meetings and the Sunday dinner and drinks has been an integral part of gaining new and meeting old customers.

We have also saved money by taking advantage of some of the great member benefits such as the dedicated business insurance team at Boswells, the savings from this benefit alone have paid for our yearly NTTA subscription, we have also used the legal help and advice line provided to us through the NTTA.

Through the NTTA we are able to keep up to date with all new and existing laws and legislation to do with trailers and towing, this has helped us to advise our customers with topics such as type approval and IVA and stay on top of enquiries that come to us.

I would definitely recommend joining and being a part of the NTTA family and taking advantage of all aspects that the NTTA offer

I have been personally involved with the NTTA since the mid 80s when it was the Association of Trailer Manufacturers, run by Les and Joan Wilson with meetings held in Derby with only 25 members! How things have moved on since then. I have been on the Council for over 20 years with 4 years as Chair (2012 to 2016) during which we doubled the membership and introduced a whole raft of member benefits that gave the opportunity for membership to be cost neutral. This is an ongoing process as more and more benefits are brought to the members. Membership, for the companies for whom I have worked, has always been an absolute must. Keeping in touch with legislation, getting first-hand knowledge of the important numbers within our sector and raising the profile of the Association and its members at Government level. Networking has been invaluable and I have made many friends in the industry over many years. We are moving in interesting and exciting times within our industry and the NTTA will always be at the forefront.

Being part of the NTTA is a two way street. For us, its about each of us trying to put things in place that will help our business grow and prosper,

that will help fellow members, and us, to achieve higher standards and hoping that they will do the same for us.

We all have difficulties from time to time and knowing that we can share these with someone who will listen and understand exactly what we

mean can be really reassuring.

We aim to become ever more professional in our dealings with the public and the NTTA by using speakers at meetings with specific areas of

knowledge keeps us in the know about change in the law, traffic regulations, taxation, business etiquette and good practice. The encouragement

shared between the members manages to give us both a wider picture and at the same time a more focused view of our own business.

Aylesbury Trailer Servicing

Scott McKenzie

Aylesbury Trailer Servicing have been a member of the NTTA for 2 years and would recommend anyone who is within the industry to become a member. Attending the bi-annual meetings keeps us well informed as to changes taking place within the industry which puts us in a brilliant position to advise our customers.

Being a member of the NTTA gives our existing and potential customers confidence in the work that we deliver. QS Membership shows that we are not a "Pop-Up Business" interested in only making a quick quid out of vulnerable people but in fact we are here long term to offer high quality work by only qualified professionals.

As well as giving our customers that added peace of mind which is most important the member benefits alone justify the membership price. Reduced card terminal fees and uniform costs are just some of the benefits which make being an NTTA member 100% worth while.
